Sweet Surrender

Our July e-newsletter went out yesterday (you can read it here if you missed it).  In it, we were going to show you drawings of our future daycare. We were going to tell you just how much money we need to raise and how we want to have the daycare up and running by the end of November. We, we, we.

Needless to say, none of that information was in our newsletter. We do not yet have floor plans or even a rough estimate of the cost to build. And right now the waiting is taking every ounce of patience within us. And it is frustrating.

God is continually teaching us that we must simply surrender. His plan is bigger than our own. He is in control of our lives and He dictates each step of this journey He has brought us on. And He, not us, is in control of Roots & Wings. And no matter how awesome our ideas and plans for this ministry are, God’s plan is infinitely better.

So, we must let go of the control. While that is an easy thing to say, it is a hard concept to grasp and an even harder behavior to put into practice. But we are learning. We are practicing. And we are surrendering more and more. We are learning to let go of the timeline we have plotted for ourselves. Learning to let go of the order in which we decided things must happen. And learning to let go of the frustration and doubt that creeps in when they don’t.

Surrender is scary. But we know God is good. We know He is all-powerful and He is faithful. These truths bring a huge amount of comfort and ease our worries and frustrations.

We know that God is going to give us a building. And we will be able to care for many children there. But it will be in His timing, not ours.

Please keep praying! I know that God is going to put all the pieces together in some amazing way, and we cannot wait to share with you the story of how God did provide!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
